About this opportunity:

The Crude Oil & Diluent Senior Scheduler is a front-line commercial operations role responsible for the safe, compliant, and value-optimized movement of crude oil and diluent across Cenovus’s integrated North American pipeline, terminal, and trading hub network. The role manages the full scheduling lifecycle, including forecasting, nominations, physical movements, inventory management, ETRM entry and actualization, and settlement support. Working closely with trading, leadership, and internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Scheduler provides timely position and operational information, resolves logistics issues, and identifies opportunities to optimize transportation, inventory, working capital, and commercial value. • Ensure safe, compliant, reliable, and ratable product movements while optimizing transportation, inventory, working capital, and commercial value across the North American logistics network.
  • Provide accurate and timely position, inventory, and operational information to trading, leadership, risk, finance, and other stakeholders to support commercial and nomination strategies.
  • Coordinate with pipelines, terminals, assets, inspectors, customers, and external partners to manage product movements, quality, testing, customs requirements, and operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate ETRM and scheduling records, including tickets, gains and losses, freight and delivery costs, fuel surcharges, and supporting data, while producing required reports, KPIs, and dashboards.
  • Apply sound commercial judgment within established delegations, agreements, policies, and procedures, escalating material risks and resolving operational issues as required.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across trading, logistics, manufacturing, downstream, finance, legal, risk, regulatory, product quality, business development, and network optimization.
  • Provide cross-team and on-call operational support, including evening and weekend coverage, to manage impacts involving transportation and storage assets.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of direct commodity logistics experience in Canada and/or the United States, with strong knowledge of crude oil and diluent pipelines, terminals, markets, and inventory management.
  • Strong understanding of energy trading and risk management processes, including front-, middle- and back-office functions within an exposure- and P&L-driven environment.
  • Experience managing and optimizing transportation and logistics costs, including pipeline freight and terminal agreements, with the ability to identify strategies that reduce risk and maximize commercial value.
  • Proficiency with ETRM systems, preferably Egistix, and intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel, combined with strong negotiation, conflict-resolution, stakeholder-management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines, support evening and weekend operational requirements, and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
