Achieving significant reductions in building energy consumption will be important in our efforts to deal with the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of energy use. The energy used by heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is a large portion of the energy consumption of most commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. This course will introduce certain aspects of designing and operating energy-efficient HVAC systems, with focus on facilitating development of conceptual understanding of the systems, technologies, and strategies studied.
